Sometimes taking the pressure of is the answer. When life is "life-ing," when stress is getting to you, big goals and PRs can feel like one more thing on your plate you just can't manage.

I just got back from my honeymoon in Portugal, ran a half marathon a week later, and somehow walked away with a two-minute PR.

Taking the pressure off can help you in a few ways:

  • Help you catch up on your sleep

  • Decompress

  • Reset your mind and your body

A relaxed mindset and fresh legs can make an invaluable difference, especially after multiple training cycles where burnout might be starting to creep in.

I attribute a lot of my recent success in this race to taking some time off, and taking some pressure off, and trusting my fitness.

The lesson for today is: removing pressure isn't giving up. It's trusting the process but approaching it from a different angle.

Trust yourself, trust your gut, and trust your training.
